About Me
Matthew Avery Sutton is the Claudius O. and Mary W. Johnson Distinguished Professor and chair of the Department of History at Washington State University. He earned his PhD in history from the University of California, Santa Barbara, in 2005. He has received fellowships from the National Endowment for the Humanities, the US Fulbright Commission, and the Woodrow Wilson Fellowship Foundation. In 2016 he was appointed a Guggenheim Foundation Fellow. He lives in Pullman, Washington with his wife and two children.
